COLUMBUS, Ohio – Police responded to a woman shot over the weekend. Additionally, the incident occurred in the North Columbus region of the city.
Specifically, the shooting happened in the 2300 block of Atwood Terrace. The Columbus Police Department reported responding to the scene on Saturday, May 11.
Officials quickly identified the victim as female. Moreover, they released her identity as 41-year-old Shana Sims.
Sims claimed to be visiting a friend at the time of the incident. Furthermore, she said she was in the 2400 block of Velma Avenue during the visit with her friend.
Then, an argument broke out between Sims and an unidentified second person. It is currently unclear if Sims was arguing with the friend she was visiting, or someone else. Officials have not determined whether Sims knew her attacker or not.
Regardless, officials report that Sims was shot in the hand during the argument. Police officers have not given details as to who had the gun. They have also not specified if the gun was legal.
Fortunately, Sims was treated on the scene by medical officials. Specifically, CFD Medic 16 responded to the call and treated Sims.
Officials reported that Sims refused any medical transport services. Still, officials confirmed she should fully recover.
