Demanding social justice, a crowd gathers in downtown Columbus on Sunday.
Continuing the train of protesting for BLM, people are standing in unity with Kenosha.
The unfortunate incident involving Kenosha Police Officer Rusten Sheskey shooting Jacob Blake in the back. Seven times.
Sheskey, along with two other officers, were responding to a domestic abuse call. As Blake was escorting his kids to their car, that’s when this all went down. Police were saying that Blake had a knife. CNN reports from a family attorney that he did not have a knife.
Of course, the seven shots had left Blake paralyzed from the waist down. According to Blake’s father, he is heavily medicated but his consciousness is coming back.
Although Blake is making a recovery, he is actually handcuffed to the hospital bed.
But protesters have not stopped. They have been out marching in Kenosha every night since the shooting.
Social Justice: Ohio Statehouse
The crowd started their gathering at the Ohio Statehouse on Sunday around 1 PM.
Maria Holland, a leader in the Black Lives Matter Unofficial Central Ohio Chapter made a statement:
“It’s kind of like recharging us, re-energizing us. The hub has been the Statehouse for some time now; You know, Kenosha happened and Jacob Blake was injured or pretty much almost killed, we wanted to look past that and come together. [We wanted to] show our solidarity with them and show them that we’re in this fight together. We hear them, we see them.”
In addition, a few of the protesters had conversations with police officers amidst chants of “No justice, no peace!”
For social justice to be made, protesters agree to be consistent.
