BMW is a car company with plenty of surprises up their sleeves. And it’s no different when introducing further efforts to show off their electro-mobility approach. In a recent presentation, they are showing the amazing form of this electric gran coupe. It’ll be their first four-door midsize electric car. Which has some incredible design language. There’s a likelihood that the i4 will follow the design shown in the concept, yet with more changes than we can assume. BMW is announcing that the i4 is available in three styles. The eDrive35, the M50 and the eDrive40. BMW had gone back and forth with the naming process for each iteration of these electric cars. The M50 is supposed to be the i4 that BMW will install the xDrive system in.
Likely, the M50 will be enabled with all-wheel drive unlike the other two. Whereas, those latters will have rear-driving capabilities and a lower power output also. The retooling has already begun last summer. Taking six weeks throughout this course of time. BMW i4 can be built alongside the current generation of 3 Series sedans and Touring models alike. Along with other versions of the company’s presence as well. Meanwhile, the Gran Coupe is all-electric and will use electric motors given by another center.
If we’re to make any assumptions about the i4, it may as well be that although the grille looks rather odd from the usual proportions, the cockpit is impressive as heck. An infotainment system to envy, surely. The first i4 sedan is already quite promising to begin with, and to add a little flavor to the savor, there also comes an 80-kilowatt hour battery life that can return a 373-mile range on the European WLTP testing cycle. As for us in the States, stating the EPA’s testing cycle would round it out o 300 miles, if we’re being honest.
