Vaccine will Help Save Lives

Vaccine technology is on the way to protect people from COVID-19 and measles. In fact, Ohio doctors are working on developing it to protect us.

Ohio doctors are working to develop the technology to protect us from COVID-19.

A Great Development in Response to the Global Pandemic

Ohio State University’s Doctors Jianrong Li and Dr. Stefan Niewiesk from Ohio State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine have taken a measles vaccine and added what is called the COVID-19 spike protein as an answer to the global pandemic.

Addressing the Needs of COVID-19 and Measles

Protecting against both measles and COVID-19, the result is the vaccine that shows it works at least in animals. In fact, the next step is testing humans.

It is reported that it does not require the same refrigeration as mRNA vaccines. This would be specifically helpful in developing countries.

The measles virus is an excellent treatment due to its long-standing safety record. In fact, Dr. Niewiesk said that it has been instrumental in reducing the measles virus worldwide. The data points toward making it a very effective treatment. In addition, it also protects life long against measles virus infections. So, we don’t know yet, but we are hopeful, it would protect for a very long time against COVID-19, Dr. Niewiesk added.

Exclusive License Agreement Coming

An exclusive license agreement was announced by Biological E. Limited and the Ohio State Innovation Foundation for the vaccine technology.

The evaluation and further development, including the commercialization of the treatment candidate (s) is what the company will be responsible for.

From Vaccine Platform to Global Vaccine Company

We are excited that Biological E has taken on this role. We want to translate this vaccine platform into the hands of a global vaccine company for further evaluation. Development is a critical step. Dr. Patrick Green, Associate Dean for Research and Graduate Studies, Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine, said.

BE is very excited to help move this innovation and expand that effort further. BE has been working hard to develop a safe and effective vaccine for the COVID-19. Mahima Datla, Managing Director of Biological E. Limited said.
